The Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit, held a workshop entitled “Human Rights in the Workplace” on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. The workshop was delivered by Eng. Enas Abdul Amir and took place in the department’s Graduate Studies Hall. The workshop highlighted the importance of promoting values of respect for workers’ rights and emphasized the necessity of applying relevant international and national principles in the workplace to ensure a fair and safe working environment for all employees. It also stressed that a sound work environment must guarantee the right to job security, equality and non-discrimination, as well as freedom of expression and participation in decision-making, as these are fundamental pillars of employee dignity and sustainable development. The workshop featured discussions on a number of challenges facing workers at both the local and global levels, in addition to reviewing best practices aimed at strengthening a human rights culture within workplace policies and procedures. The event was attended by faculty members and students of the department and witnessed positive interaction from participants, reflecting the importance of organizing such awareness-raising workshops to promote and entrench human rights principles in the workplace.
