As part of
promoting a culture of academic integrity and keeping pace with the rapid
transformations in the use of artificial intelligence in scientific research,
the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering at the
College of Engineering – Al-Nahrain University organized a scientific workshop on
Wednesday, 17 December 2025, entitled “Scientific Research Integrity in the Age
of Artificial Intelligence: Ethical Challenges,” delivered by Dr. Omar Adnan
Abbas. The workshop addressed the fundamental concepts of research integrity
and the role of artificial intelligence in advancing various stages of the
research process, while highlighting the ethical challenges associated with its
use, including algorithmic bias, transparency, scientific responsibility, and
the reproducibility of results. The workshop also discussed proposed mechanisms
for promoting the responsible use of artificial intelligence in academic
environments and emphasized the importance of updating institutional and
ethical frameworks to ensure the reliability of research outputs and to
maintain trust within the scientific community.
