Seminar on “How to Start Architectural Design”

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering and the supervision of the Head of the Department of Architecture, the young Iraqi architect Hazem Mohammed was hosted in a seminar entitled “How to Start Architectural Design!?” on November 2, 2025.

During the seminar, the architect highlighted several fundamental principles for starting an architectural project and developing architectural ideas. Among these were the questions: What is the issue that the architectural design will address? and What are the objectives that can be formulated in response to that issue? — and consequently, how can we achieve those objectives through design?

The distinguished guest architect explained that the design concept is the result of the interaction between the architectural issue or phenomenon and the objectives set to solve or improve that issue.

Several works designed by Architects Office – Hazem Mohammed were presented, illustrating how to identify a problem, develop a concept, and transform it into a design. The seminar received great interaction and appreciation from students, professors, and attendees.

Architect Hazem also discussed the market’s demand for preferred architectural specializations, noting that his architectural offices will later serve as places to welcome and attract outstanding students from the Department of Architecture at Al-Nahrain University, God willing.
