Prof. Dr. Anas Qusay Hashem, Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering – Al-Nahrain University, participated in the 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Digital Systems and Sustainable Technology (ICIDST).

The conference was organized by the College of Technical Engineering at Al-Farahidi University in collaboration with Istanbul Aydin University, Turkey.

Prof. Anas participated alongside Master’s student Israa Ghafil Ahmed with their joint research paper entitled:

"A Real-Time Intelligent Detection System for Coronary Artery Stenosis Using YOLOv8 and Preprocessing Optimization"

Additionally, student Raed Hamed Lateef, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Faiq Hussain from the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering at the College of Engineering – Al-Nahrain University, presented their research titled:

"AI-Powered Hybrid Unsupervised Segmentation of Lung CT Images Using SKICU-Net with Attention and Multi-Stage Mask Optimization"

This distinguished international conference served as a prominent academic platform that brought together scholars, researchers, and experts from around the world to present the latest innovations and research in intelligent systems and sustainable technologies.

Both student research projects explored the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with a focus on enhancing diagnostic efficiency and supporting clinical decision-making. These efforts represent a vital step toward developing smarter and more effective healthcare systems.
