His thesis is titled: "Skeletal Maturity Assessment Based on Artificial Neural Network Model Design for Pediatric Hand Radiographs" The discussion committee consisted of: Chair: Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassanein Ali Lafta, College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University / Department of Biomedical Engineering Member: Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Ali Asghar Mustafa, College of Medicine / Al-Mustansiriyah University Member: Asst. Prof. Dr. Shaimaa Safaa Al-Din Baha Al-Din, College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University / Department of Computer Engineering The thesis was supervised by: Asst. Prof. Dr. Hadeel Qasim Wadi, College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University / Department of Biomedical Engineering Asst. Prof. Dr. Noor Kazem Neama, College of Medicine / Al-Nahrain University The thesis was scientifically evaluated by: Scientific Evaluator 1: Prof. Dr. Mohammed Najm Abdullah / University of Technology / College of Computer Engineering Scientific Evaluator 2: Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Sabri Salem / Al-Nahrain University / College of Engineering It was linguistically reviewed by: Language Reviewer: Lecturer Dr. Muna Mustafa Kareem, College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University / Department of Biomedical Engineering This study aims to present an enhanced model for segmenting pediatric left-hand X-ray images and predicting the child’s actual age, based on a modified version of the Tanner-Whitehouse method.
The thesis was accepted as it fulfilled the requirements for obtaining the Master’s degree.
The model relies on the Faster R-CNN Mask to identify the Region of Interest (ROI), followed by age estimation using regression techniques.
