Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Khaled Kamel, a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, published three scientific papers in international journals falling within the first and second quartiles (Q1 and Q2) published by Elsevier.
The first paper aimed to investigate the structural behavior of reinforced concrete slab-column connections by incorporating different combinations of normal-strength concrete (NSC), high-strength concrete (HSC), and lightweight concrete (LWC) into the slab and column under the simultaneous effects of gravitational and lateral cyclic loads.
Structural performance of slab-column connections using innovative concrete combinations under gravity and lateral cyclic loading - ScienceDirect
The second paper reviewed critical failures and their handling mechanisms in flat plate-column connections used in reinforced concrete structures, such as punching shear and lateral cyclic displacement, particularly under dynamic loading conditions such as earthquakes. This research examines recent developments in the structural performance of plate-column connections, focusing on experimental and computational methodologies.
