Professor Dr. Basim Obeid, a faculty member at the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, and currently a visiting professor at the University of Adelaide, Australia, under the scientific sabbatical program of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education, participated in the Masters and Honours Conference Presentations held from 10 to 13 June 2025.

He contributed as a co-supervisor for the master’s candidates at the University of Adelaide. The conference was hosted by the University to showcase postgraduate and undergraduate (Honours) student research projects. Professor Obeid was officially assigned by the university to supervise research in the field of corrosion analysis in hydrogen production reactors via methane pyrolysis, a process considered a promising source of clean and alternative energy.

The conference, held at the University’s Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources, featured a wide array of innovative projects in the field of renewable energy. The project under his co-supervision focused on investigating the corrosion behavior of various metals in liquid catalytic media (molten metals) to identify the most suitable material for designing an efficient hydrogen production reactor.
