Iraqi universities have made significant progress in rankings related to global academic reputation and sustainable development indicators (SDGs). Ten Iraqi universities recorded important positions in the QS World University Rankings 2026, where more than 1,500 universities competed worldwide. The University of Baghdad ranked (741-750), Al-Nahrain University (951-1000), and both Al-Mustansiriya University and Al-Anbar University ranked (1001-1200), while the universities of Tishk, Babylon, Basra, Karbala, Kufa, and Mosul ranked (1201-1400). This ranking is based on a methodology that relies on criteria such as academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (15%), student-to-faculty ratio (10%), number of research citations (20%), proportion of international faculty (5%), international students (5%), international research network (5%), employment outcomes (5%), and sustainability criteria (5%). In contrast, the results of the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2025 showed a prominent presence of Iraq, with 88 Iraqi universities participating in this ranking that measures the contribution and impact of higher education institutions in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through indicators covering the areas of scientific research, institutional governance, community engagement, and education. In this context, Iraq achieved a milestone as Al-Mustaqbal University ranked first globally in the seventh goal related to Affordable and Clean Energy, making it one of the top universities according to the Sustainable Development Goals (Top Universities by SDG). *QS World University Rankings 2026👇:*:*
