s part of its awareness-raising programs aimed at fostering a safe university environment, the Human Rights Division, in cooperation with the Department of Continuing Education at Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences, held a training course on Monday, 2 June 2025, entitled “The Role of Cybersecurity in Curbing Drug Use Among Students.”

The course was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Nawras Hussein Abdullah from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering at Al-Nahrain University. She outlined how unsecured digital platforms are exploited to promote narcotics, explained methods for the early detection of such harmful content, and presented best technical and educational practices for monitoring and reporting it. The lecturer also emphasized developing students’ skills in distinguishing between reliable and misleading sources and the importance of implementing strict data-protection policies to safeguard user privacy on campus.

The session drew active participation from medical-college students, who enriched the discussion with questions about modern digital tools and their role as a first line of defense against the online spread of drugs. The event concluded with recommendations to college administrations to adopt regular cybersecurity training programs and to strengthen collaboration between academic and security bodies to ensure a risk-free digital learning environment.
