As part of the Department of Biomedical Engineering’s ongoing series of scientific activities, and in collaboration with the Human Rights Unit at our college, and under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Iyad Murad Takhakh, and the supervision of the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Anas Qusay Hashim, a scientific workshop was held under the title: The workshop was presented by Lecturer Faten Imad Ali and covered significant scientific and ethical themes, including: Introduction to the fundamental concepts of professional ethics and human rights. Exploration of the relationship between ethical principles and their applications in the field of biomedical engineering. Highlighting international standards such as the UNESCO Declaration and the Oviedo Convention. Discussion of ethical challenges related to the use of artificial intelligence in medical devices. Emphasis on the role of academics in promoting a culture of responsible research and ethical development.
The workshop witnessed notable attendance by several faculty members of the department. The discussions were enriched with questions and constructive academic interventions, reflecting the department’s commitment to embedding human values in education, research, and innovation.
