PhD Dissertation Defense of Student Fahad Basim Sadiq The PhD student Fahad Basim Sadiq defended his dissertation at the Department of Biomedical Engineering on Thursday, April 24, 2025. His dissertation is entitled: "A Scheme for Image Processing Uncertainty Reduction Based on Artificial Hybrid System" The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ziyad Tariq Mahmood Al-Dahan from Al-Bayan University and included the following members: Prof. Dr. Anas Ali Hussein from the Al-Nahrain Renewable Energy Research Center / Al-Nahrain University Asst. Prof. Dr. Abbas Fadhel Abdul-Wahab from the College of Medicine / Al-Nahrain University Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Faiq Hussein from the College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University Asst. Prof. Dr. Ameer Fareed Berto from the College of Engineering / University of Babylon The dissertation was supervised by: Prof. Dr. Jamal Abdul-Jabbar Hassan from the College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University Asst. Prof. Dr. Hadeel Qasim Wadi from the College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University The dissertation was scientifically evaluated by: Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saadoun Hatheel / University of Baghdad / College of Engineering Asst. Prof. Dr. Israa Badr Nasser / Al-Nahrain University / College of Engineering It was linguistically reviewed by: Lecturer Dr. Alaa Ayed Jabr from the College of Engineering / Al-Nahrain University. The aim of the study is to present an enhanced model for brain MRI image segmentation and tissue classification. The hybrid model employs both Fuzzy C-Means clustering and the Dempster-Shafer Theory of Evidence to improve the accuracy of segmentation and tissue classification.
The dissertation was accepted as it fulfilled all the requirements for the award of the PhD degree.
