The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, organized a training course titled "Design Calculations for Heavy and Light Solar Power Systems," delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Sabri Salem, Head of the Department of Electronic and Communications Engineering. The course covered fundamental principles of solar system design, essential calculations, and best practices for both heavy (industrial/commercial) and light (residential) solar power systems. The training aimed to enhance participants' skills in several key areas, including: 1. Load evaluation and energy demand calculations 2. Sizing of photovoltaic systems (off-grid, on-grid, and hybrid) 3. Selection of battery banks and inverters 4. Specifications of charge controllers and wiring 5. Case studies and hands-on design exercises The course was tailored for a diverse audience, including: - Solar energy engineers and technicians - Electrical engineers - Renewable energy specialists - Students and researchers in the field of solar energy. This course is part of the college’s ongoing efforts to enhance technical competencies and support the transition toward sustainable and clean energy solutions.
