The Department of Biomedical Engineering, under the esteemed sponsorship of the Dean of the College of Engineering - Al-Nahrain University, organized a scientific visit to the Ibn Al-Bitar Specialized Center for Cardiac Surgery. The visit was conducted by a group of faculty members from the Biomedical Engineering Department, including: Dr. Samar Ali Jaber Dr. Alaa Ayed Jabr Dr. Basma Abdul Sahib Fayhan Dr. Reem Shakir Mahmoud Asst. Lecturer Enas Shehab Ahmed Asst. Lecturer Hamza Abbas Fadel Senior Engineer Nadia Ahmed Mohammed Engineer Noor Basim Khalaf The faculty members were accompanied by fourth-year students from the Biomedical Engineering Department. During the visit, the students explored the various hospital departments and were introduced to the latest scientific and medical devices used in the hospital. This visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, aligning with the fourth goal of sustainable development (SDG-4) – Quality Education. The students were introduced to cardiopulmonary bypass devices, where Dr. Zainab Iyad Wajih, Asst. Lecturer Engineer Seema Azhar Abdul-Hussein, and Engineer Amina Abdul Muneim (graduates of the Biomedical Engineering Department) explained their mechanisms and functionality. They also highlighted the role of biomedical engineers in medical centers.
The hospital administration praised the knowledge, skills, and interactive participation of the students, emphasizing their strong theoretical and practical abilities, which align with the healthcare sector's needs and serve the community's requirements.
