Under the auspices of the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, the Department of Electronic and Communications Engineering, in collaboration with the Human Rights Unit, organized a workshop titled "Child Rights Within the Family: Enhancing Protection, Safety, and Participation" on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. This workshop is part of the college’s strategic plan to achieve one of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Nasir Aboud Issa, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Sabri Salem, Head of the Department of Electronic and Communications Engineering, along with faculty members and students.

The workshop was hosted by:

Dr. Abeer Abdul Moneim Ahmed, Ph.D. in Educational and Psychological Sciences from the University of Baghdad – College of Education for Women – Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences.

 Lecturer Mais Al-Reem Abdul Kareem Dawood, M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of Baghdad – College of Education for Women – Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences.

Dr. Abeer Abdul Moneim presented an insightful lecture on child rights in Islam, emphasizing the importance of strengthening these rights based on Islamic principles that advocate for compassion and care. She also highlighted the role of the family in raising children according to sound educational foundations, stressing the significance of social and religious upbringing in developing a balanced and strong personality.

Meanwhile,  Lecturer Mais Al-Reem Abdul Kareem provided a comprehensive presentation on modern approaches to sustainable development and their impact on child upbringing. She discussed how families and communities can contribute to creating an environment that fosters a generation capable of addressing future challenges through sustainable methods.

At the end of the workshop, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amina Mahmoud Shaker, representing the College of Engineering, presented certificates of appreciation to the lecturers, commending their valuable contributions and wishing them continued success and fruitful collaboration in serving the community.
