The Second Alumni Forum of the Biomedical Engineering Department

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Juma Salman Jiyad, the esteemed Dean of the College of Engineering, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Anas Qusay Hashim, Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, the department organized the Second Alumni Forum under the theme:

"Strategies for Entering the Job Market: Insights from Biomedical Engineering Alumni."

The event was held in Dijla Hall at the College of Engineering, with the presence of faculty members and students from various academic levels. The forum was coordinated and prepared by the Alumni Follow-up Committee, represented by Dr. Samar Ali Jaber, Dr. Mona Mustafa Kareem, Assistant Lecturer Hamza Abbas Fadel, and Assistant Lecturer Qais Ahmed Habash.

During the forum, distinguished alumni from different industries were invited to share their experiences and provide insights into the job market:

  1. Engineer Jaafar Jassim (Graduation Year: 2022/2023) – Ashur Medical Group
  2. Engineer Amina Abdul Munim Kazem (Graduation Year: 2020) – Ibn Al-Bitar Center for Cardiac Catheterization
  3. Engineer Hussein Amer Hussein (Graduation Year: 2019) – Al-Muyassar Scientific Office (Fattal Group)

The speakers discussed their roles and responsibilities in both the public and private sectors, offering students a deeper understanding of job market demands. The forum also included an interactive discussion session, where students engaged with alumni through both online and in-person discussions. The goal was to bridge the gap between students’ career aspirations and alumni experiences, fostering a scientific and professional dialogue between faculty members, students, and graduates.

Key topics covered included:

  • Medical device marketing
  • Management and technical work in hospitals
  • Curriculum development based on alumni experiences

The Alumni Follow-up Committee also announced plans for organizing the next alumni forum in the coming year.

The event concluded with Assistant Professor Dr. Anas Qusay Hashim, Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, presenting certificates of appreciation to the guest speakers in recognition of their valuable contributions and presence at the forum.
