Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Ibrahim Mahmoud, a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, participated as a committee member in the master's thesis defense of student Noor Abdul-Hamza Hamid in the Department of Life Sciences, College of Science, University of Baghdad.

Her thesis was titled:
"DNA Methylation Patterns of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Relation to Some Immunological Markers in Iraqi Patients."

The defense committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Abdul Jassim Baraj from the College of Science, University of Baghdad, and included Assistant Professor Dr. Fadel Mohammed Lafta from the College of Science, University of Baghdad, and Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Ibrahim Mahmoud from the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University. The thesis was supervised by Professor Dr. Rikkad Mohammed Khamees from the College of Science, University of Baghdad.

The thesis was scientifically evaluated by Professor Dr. Ghassan Mohammed Suleiman from the University of Technology and Professor Dr. Jenan Adnan Abdul Latif from Al-Karkh University for Science, while the linguistic evaluation was conducted by Professor Dr. Intisar Jabbar Sahib from the College of Science, University of Baghdad.

The public defense took place in Professor Dr. Raad Al-Moula Hall in the Department of Life Sciences, where the student was awarded a grade of Distinction (Excellent).
