Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Aziz Al-Shawi, President of Al-Nahrain University, and with the continuous support of Professor Dr. Juma Salman Jiyad, Dean of the College of Engineering, a delegation from the University of Cagliari, Italy, was received today, Sunday, February 16, 2025.

The delegation was headed by Professor Dr. Maddalena Achenza, a faculty member at the College of Environmental, Civil, and Architectural Engineering at the University of Cagliari. The delegation also included consultants from the International Center for Earthen Architecture (CRATERRE): Jean-Marie Loutik and Miguel Fernandez Mendez.

During the visit, the signed copies of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities were exchanged.

The University President welcomed the Italian delegation in his office, in the presence of:

• Professor Dr. Juma Salman Jiyad, Dean of the College of Engineering.
• Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein, Vice President for Administrative Affairs.
• Professor Dr. Haitham Abdul Hussein Al-Shammari, Head of the Department of Architecture.
• Professor Dr. Siba Sami Mahdi, from the Department of Architecture and the coordinator with Dr. Achenza regarding the Memorandum of Understanding.

During the meeting, the University President handed over the signed copies of the MoU to Dr. Achenza on behalf of her university. As part of the visit, the University President presented the delegation with a university souvenir and the College of Engineering shield in recognition of their visit
