Assistant Professor Dr. Anas Qusay Hashim, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, authored a research paper titled: The research was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Ali Faisal Al-Baldawi as part of his Ph.D. requirements from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, Dr. Tareq Jasim Mohammed, an orthopedic doctor at Al-Kadhimiya Teaching Hospital, and international researchers from the Applied Neurocognitive Psychology Lab, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Germany. The paper was published in the peer-reviewed Prosthesis Journal, part of the renowned global publishing house MDPI. The journal is indexed in Scopus, has an impact factor of 2.8, a CiteScore of 4.8, and ranks in the first quartile (Q1). The study introduces a novel approach to diagnosing and treating flatfoot using infrared thermography and an innovative insole design incorporating smart-memory alloy (Nitinol). The method was applied to a group of flatfoot patients, and improvements were measured, demonstrating the system's effectiveness.
