As part of its efforts to
enhance engineering expertise and deepen knowledge of modern medical
technologies, the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering at the
College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, organized a scientific visit to Al-Kafeel
Specialized Hospital in Karbala on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The visit included a select group of faculty members and third- and fourth-year
students. The department’s members were
welcomed by the hospital’s management, who organized a comprehensive tour of
the hospital's departments, with a particular focus on the MRI
(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and CT Scan (Computed Tomography)
units. During the tour, the
medical and biomedical engineering staff provided detailed explanations of the
operational mechanisms of these advanced diagnostic devices and their
applications in medical diagnosis. The team also highlighted the importance of
these technologies in the field of prosthetics engineering, emphasizing how
imaging outputs can be utilized to manufacture prosthetic devices with greater
precision and efficiency. The members emphasized the
significance of such visits in bridging theoretical education with practical
applications, noting that these experiences play a critical role in broadening
students' perspectives and equipping them with the skills and knowledge
necessary for the job market.
For its part, Al-Kafeel
Specialized Hospital's management emphasized the importance of collaboration
between academic and medical institutions to serve the community effectively.
